Dean: Racism played a role in Katrina death toll

Dean told the annual meeting of the National Baptist Convention of America in Miami that the nation must “come to terms with the ugly truth that skin color, age and economics played a deadly role in who survived and who did not.”

Wrong. This is what played a role:

  • A city built below sea-level
  • A cat 4 hurricane
  • A reconstructed levee that initially did it’s job and then fails

If we are going to spin conspiracy theories, how about this one: Dean knew he didn’t have any good material for an upcoming speech, so just after Katrina hits, he sneaks into New Orleans, sabotages a levee and pats himself on the back for conjuring up something for which he could hang W from a French Quarter streetpost.

Speaking of the ones who did not survive, Dr Dean, can you tell me the skin color and economic status of the victims on the Mississippi coast?

I think your conspiracy theory is just as valid as Dean’s whole ‘race ‘ theory. I don’t know about you, but sometimes i feel like a guilty child if i don’t consider ethnicity first in every situation. They have taken’PC’ and bludgeoned us with it.

Wisely put, my friend. But if someone tries to play a race card on me, I just tell them to go talk to my black roommate :-)
