My pride -n- joy(s)

July 23rd, 2006

Although it’s been rumored for a few years, the announcement came recently that Marvel would finally be making an Iron Man movie, set for a Spring 2008 release. Directing will be Jon Favreau (Daredevil, Zathura). The role of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, has not been cast, but my early favorites for the role would be Karl Urban, Oded Fehr or a 30-something Tom Selleck look-alike unknown. No Tom Cruise! (too short for Stark)

Anyway, besides the anticipation of finally seeing my favorite superhero in a major motion picture, I have to wonder what this will do for the value of the two gems of my comic book collection below. Does anyone know what any of the recent comic adaptations (Spiderman, X-Men, etc.) did for the value of their comic book series?

Iron Man - Tales of Suspense 39

Tales of Suspense 39 (1963)
The introduction of Iron Man. This may not be the best copy around, but it’s mine. Iron Man starred in TOS through issue 99, after which he got his own title in 1968:

Iron Man 1
This one is about as close to mint condition as anyone is going to find.

Now if Arnold will just lose the damn election so he can finally make a proper (King) Conan movie. (just kidding Arnie)

Conan the Barbarian 1
